PRESENTATION: Movement Oncology: Exercise and Physical Activity in the Prevention and Treatment of Cancer
There exists a large body of evidence that those who participate in higher levels of physical activity have a reduced likelihood of developing a variety of cancers compared to those who engage in lower levels of physical activity.
Although most of us are aware that physical exercise is important, we are less familiar with the underlying biological mechanisms and how best to use exercise/physical activity as medicine.
- Participants will be able to list health benefits of physical activity that combat carcinogenesis.
- Participants will recognise the ability of exercise to alleviate side effects and symptoms from disease as well as treatments.
- Participants will be able to outline the use of exercise rehabilitation to limit disease progression and mortality.
